Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information

Log Kow: 8.98 (KOWWIN v1.68)

Water solubility: < 0.05 mg/L (EU Method A.6)

Biodegradation: readily biodegradable, 85% in 28 days (OECD 301B)

BCF: 1.05 L/kg (BCFBAF v3.01; Arnot-Gobas estimate)

Aquatic acute toxicity:

For fish: 96 h, LC50 (O. mykiss): no effects up to the limit of water solubility (OECD 203)

For crustacea: no data available

For algae: 72 h, ErL50 (P. subcapitata ): no effects up to the limit of water solubility (OECD 201)

Aquatic chronic toxicity:

For fish: 33 d, NOEC (P. promelas) = 0.21 mg/L (meas. geom. mean, OECD 210)

For crustacea: 21 d, NOEC (D. magna): no effects up to the limit of water solubility (OECD 211)

For algae: 72h, NOEC (P. subcapitata): no effects up to the limit of water solubility (OECD 201)

Classification justification

Based on the data above, Propane-1,2,3-triyl 2-ethylhexanoate (CAS No. 7360-38-5) is considered to be rapidly biodegradable. The acute aquatic toxicity L(E)C50 values are above the solubility of the substance in water for fish and algae. Valid chronic toxicity data are available for fish, algae and aquatic invertebrates – showing an effect for fish resulting in a NOEC of 0.21 mg/L (meas. geom. mean). Therefore, the substance needs to be classified as Aquatic Chronic 3 (H412) according to the Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (CLP) taking into account all further amendments (ATPs).
