Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A study was conducted to assess the ready biodegradability of thesubstance according to modified OECD Guideline 301C, in compliance with GLP. The test substance, at a concentration of 1 mg/L, was exposed to activated sewage sludge from predominantly domestic source. The sludge was incubated with the test substance for a prolonged duration of 63 d. The degradation of the test substance was assessed by the determination of carbon dioxide produced. Also, the metabolism of the substance was monitored by HPLC using both liquid scintillation counting on collected HPLC fractions as well as by 14C and UV detection. Control solutions with inoculum and the reference substance (L-glutamic acid), together with a toxicity control were used for validation purposes. The reference substance attained 63% degradation after 4 d and ultimately attained 85% biodegradation by Day 63. Very low levels of biodegradation were observed with the test substance by the end of the study. Under the study conditions, the substance was not considered to be readily biodegradable (Brown, 1994).

Supporting information on the biodegradation properties of the substance was provided in the following studies available in the IUCLID dataset:
