Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Vinyl laurate does not show a effect on fish when administered up to a concentration of 100 mg/l (nominal).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A semi-static acute fish toxicity test according to OECD Guideline 203 was performed. The test item was stirred in water for 24 hours at a concentration of 100 mg/l. Undiluted test item was filtrated and the solution was used for the test. The test water was renewed once a day. The test item is virtually not soluble in water. Analytical invesigations employing gas chromatography showed no recovery of the test item at the time point of water change. A group of 10 fish (Brachydanio rerio) was exposed to the limit dose of 100 mg/l vinyl laurate (loading rate) in water for 96 h. No mortality or any behaviour abnormalties occured during the study. General signs of toxicity were not observed compared to the control group (same water, no test item). Therefore, the LC50 (fish) was determined to be > 100 mg/l, the NOEC is >= 100 mg/l.
