Details on sampling:
Three series of the reference solutions were measured with two parallel injections each. Three series of the test item solution were measured with two parallel injections each. The retention times were determined. The three calibration series and three test item series were measured alternately.
Details on test conditions:
Test Solutions:
The reference items were dissolved in methanol. The concentrations of the stock solutions were about 1 mg/mL.
These stock solutions were diluted with eluent resulting in concentrations of the test solutions of approximately 10 μg/mL. The sodium nitrate and DDT stock solutions were diluted with eluent resulting in concentration of the test solution of approximately 100 and 50 μg/mL.
The test item was dissolved in methanol. The concentration of this solution was about 1 mg/mL. It was diluted with eluent to 10 μg/mL.

Details on results (HPLC method):
- Retention times (mean value) of reference substances used for calibration:
sodium nitrate (1.69 minutes), acetanilide (3.24 minutes), methyl benzoate (3.67 minutes), isoproturon (3.78 minutes), linuron (4.77 minutes), naphthalene (5.23 minutes), fenthion (6.89 minutes), DDT (13.35 minutes).
- Details of fitted regression line (log k' vs. log Koc): log k = 0.205 * log Koc - 0.274 (Rsq = 0.980)
- Average retention data for test substance: 8.25 min
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Using the HPLC method the log Koc of 1,1'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)dibenzene was determined to be 4.20 at 25 °C.
Executive summary:

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) on soil and sewage sludge of 1,1'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)dibenzene was assessed according to EU method C.19 and OECD guideline no. 121 using the HPLC method. Based on the retention time measured for 1,1'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)dibenzene (8.25 min), the log Koc was estimated to be 4.20 ± 0.007 (95 % confidence interval) corresponding to a Koc of 15968 ± 254.8 (95 % confidence interval) at 25 °C.

Description of key information

The Koc of the test item was determine using the HPLC method to be 15968 ± 254.8 (95 % confidence interval) and the log Koc to be 4.2 at 25 °C, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
