Description of key information

Since 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol (AEPD) is well soluble in water, is not volatile, and has low adsorption potential, its main target compartment in the environment is likely to be water. Accumulation in organisms is unlikely, due to the low log Kow value. AEPD is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria, but is inherently biodegradable. It is therefore expected to be degraded by microorganisms in the environment. Hydrolysis in the environment is not expected based on the molecular structure.
