First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position). Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water, seek medical attention.

On contact with eyes:

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labelling (see SDS section 2) and/or in SDS section 11.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Additional information:

Use extinguishing measures to suit surroundings.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture metal oxides, cobalt oxides, nickel oxides

The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released if the product is involved in a fire.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Product itself is non-combustible; fire extinguishing method of surrounding areas must be considered. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Breathing protection required. Avoid contact with the skin,

eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Information regarding personal protective measures see SDS section 8.

Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Avoid raising dust. Cleaning operations should be carried out only while wearing breathing apparatus. Dampen, pick up mechanically and dispose of. Correctly dispose of recovered product immediately. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid dust formation. Avoid inhalation of dusts. Exhaust ventilation is necessary at the location.

Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Processing machines must be fitted with local exhaust ventilation. Keep container tightly closed.

Protection against fire and explosion:

The product is not an oxidizer, not self-combustible and not explosive.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Segregate from acids.

Suitable materials for containers: High density polyethylene (HDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Low density polyethylene (LDPE)

Further information on storage conditions: Containers should be stored tightly sealed in a dry place.

The packed product is not damaged by low temperatures or by frost.

Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact

(Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): E.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm) etc.

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:

chemical protection overall (f.e. according to EN 13982) if dust is formed., Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemicalprotection

suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures

Store work clothing separately. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift.
