Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According to theoretical considerations based on chemical structure, trimellitic anhydride does not possess oxidising properties. Trimellitic anhydride is unlikely to cause or contribute to the combustion of other material during transport, storage or use.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on chemical structure, trimellitic anhydride does not contain any of the chemical groups associated with known oxidising substances. Although the molecular structure contains oxygen, it is not connected with chemical groups associated with oxidising properties. Trimellitic anhydride is not classified for transport as an oxidising substance. TMA is therefore unlikely to cause or contribute to the combustion of other material during transport, storage or use.
