Abiotic degradation of HHCB takes place by photodegradation both in air and in water. Phototransformation half-live in air was experimentally determined to be 3.7 hours, while experimentally determined half-lives in water ranged from 109 to 135 hours.


HHCB does not contain any hydrolysable structures. Hence, HHCB is hydrolytically stable.
