Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010-10-13 to 2010-10-15
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Test was performed with a dried residue of a concentrated solution. The substance (Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate) is stable in solution only.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: inhouse guideline: VAT(S)21N96017.03
GLP compliance:
not specified
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate), dry residue of a concentrated solution)
- Physical state: solid
- Sample preparation: The sample was delivered as concentrated solution (about 40 %). In order to analyse the characteristics of a dried solution which was the purpose of this analysis) the sample was dried with a rotary drying unit under vacuum (50 mbar). During the drying process the liquid solution was turned to a dry salt. The distilled water contained no acidity. The dry residue was crushed with a rotary knife mill to a powder and the complete sample was sieved with a mesh size of 250 µm (recovery 100 %). The crushed material was then dried in a drying chamber a 105 °C (weight loss 15.6 %, residual moisture content 1.3 %)
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Burning time:
2 min
Moisture (wt %):
1.3
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Description of key information

The flammability (solids) of Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate), EINECS 242-522-3 (dry residue of a concentrated solution) was determined according to the test method A. 10. "Flammability (Solids)" as described in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.

The dried residue of the Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate) solution is not flammable.

The dried residue of the Nickel bis (dihydrogen phosphate) solution is not flammable according to the definition in hte Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A. 10.
