The individual runs showed a boiling point of 256.7 and 257.1 °C. Corrected to standard atmospheric pressure (101.325 kPa), the mean boiling point is 257.2°C. As the test temperature reached approximately 215°C a change in colour of the sample from amber to brown was observed. At the end of the test, a deep brown colouration was observed. It is suspected that the sample may undergo thermal decomposition before boiling.

Conclusions:
The boiling point under atmosheric pressure was reported to be 257.2 °C. As the color of the sample changed to brown starting from approx. 215 °C, it is concluded that the substance decomposes and the reported boiling point thus represents the boiling point of the thermal decomposition product(s).

Description of key information

The boiling point of the test substance was determined to be 257.2 °C at 101.325 kPa in a GLP-compliant boiling point determination according to EU method A.2 (Siwoloboff method) (Younis S, 2012). Decomposition was observed starting from approx 215 °C.

Additional information

The measured boiling temperature (256.9 °C) was obtained at 100.6 kPa and corrected to standard atmospheric pressure. As the color of the sample changed to brown starting from approx. 215 °C, it is concluded that the substance decomposes and the reported boiling point thus represents the boiling point of the thermal decomposition product(s).
