Additional information

For the evaluation ot the toxicity of Triclosan to soil microorganisms aerobic microorganisms were exposed to the substance for 28 days. Two studies focusing on respiration rate and on nitrification rate respectively are available. Changes in the respiration rate of aerobic soil microorganisms were investigated in a study following OECD guideline 217. Soil samples containing microorganisms were mixed with quartz sand spiked with the test substance. CO2 production was monitored and a NOEC > 2 mg/kg soil was determined after 28 days (Ciba Specialty Chemicals 2007). Nitrogen transformation was monitored in a study conducted in compliance with OECD guideline 216, the determined NOEC was > 2 mg/kg soil (Ciba Specialty Chemicals 2007).
