First-aid measures

General information:
First aider: Pay attention to self-protection!
When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps.
Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings.
If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice.

After inhalation:
Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest.
If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

After contact with skin:
Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings.
After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap.
Do not wash with: Solvents/Thinner.

After contact with eyes:
Seek medical advice immediately. In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart and consult an ophthalmologist.
Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

After ingestion:
Seek medical advice immediately.
Rinse mouth.
Put victim at rest, cover with a blanket and keep warm.
Do NOT induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:
Water spray jet, alcohol resistant foam, extinguishing powder, carbon dioxide (CO2)

Unsuitable extinguishing media:
High power water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Liquid evaporates quickly.
Heating or fire can release toxic vapours/gas
Vapours are heavier than air, spread along floors and form explosive mixtures with air. Beware of re-ignition.
In case of fire may be liberated: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen fluoride, cyanide, hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid).

Advice for firefighters:
Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.
Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure.

Additional information:
Heating causes rise in pressure with risk of bursting. Use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool endangered containers.
Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Keep wet with acetone. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not breathe vapour/aerosol. Wear personal protection equipment. Provide adequate ventilation. Keep away from unprotected persons.

Environmental precautions:
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. If necessary, inform the competent authorities

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Use only non-sparking tools. Absorb with liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents). Take up mechanically, placing in appropriate containers for disposal. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Clean area thoroughly afterwards.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:
Use as an intermediate under strictly controlled conditions. Transported isolated intermediate as defined by Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACh), article 18.
Transfer and handle product only in closed systems. Provide good ventilation in storage and work areas. Keep wet with acetone. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes.
Do not breathe vapour/aerosol. Wear personal protection equipment. Keep away from unprotected persons. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:
Use only non-sparking tools. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Vapours are heavier than air, spread along floors and form explosive mixtures with air. Beware of re-ignition.

Further information on handling:
Always close containers tightly after the removal of product. Never use pressure to empty container. Keep/Store only in original container.
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels:
Keep/Store only in original container. Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.
Protect from sunlight. Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only. Always close containers tightly after the removal of product.

Further information on storage conditions:
Explosive when dry.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls:
Use as an intermediate under strictly controlled conditions. Transported isolated intermediate as defined by Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACh), article 18.
Transfer and handle product only in closed systems. Provide good ventilation.
If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn.

Protective and hygiene measures:
Remove all sources of ignition. Avoid contact with the substance. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately.
Provide eye and emergency safety showers Wash hands before breaks and after work. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Eye/face protection:
Wear eye/face protection.

Hand protection:
Wear suitable gloves. Replace when worn. The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances.
For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves. See information supplied by the manufacturer.
Suitable material: Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber)
Use protective skin cream before handling the product.

Skin protection:
Wear suitable protective clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work.

Respiratory protection:
If occupational exposure limits are exceeded (Acetone), respiratory protection is necessary.
Use suitable breathing apparatus with an AX filter device.

Environmental exposure controls:
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability:
The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:
Explosive when dry.
In use, may form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Conditions to avoid:
Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Avoid vapour/aerosol formation. Do not let dry out the product.

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal:
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.
Dispose according to legislation.
The allocation of waste identity numbers/waste descriptions must be carried out according to the EEC, specific to the industry and process.

Contaminated packaging:
Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
Completely emptied packages can be recycled.
Dispose according to legislation.
