Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure
- Inhalation: Remove the person from exposed area to fresh air area immediately. If any sympthoms appear seek medical advise.
- Eyes: Wash immediately with large amounts of water for 15 minutes; keep the eyelid open with the finger. Seek medical advise if any sympthoms appear.
- Skin: Remove contaminated clothes and shoes immediately. Wash affected area with soap or mild detergent and large amount of water until no evidence of chemical remains (15-20 minutes). Seek medical advise if any sympthoms appear.
- Ingestion: If swallowed wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Seek medical advise immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, CO2, foam, dry chemical powders

Product arising from burning: Thermal decomposition or combustion may include toxic and hazardous fumes.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure demand and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection (dust mask included) to avoid contact and prevent inhalation of dust.
Sweep up with inert absorbent material, and clean with plenty of water. Avoid raising dust. Ventilate area.
Send to the storage waiting for disposal procedures.
Avoid any release to environment.

Handling and storage

The reactor for the esterification reaction has a scrubber connected to two condensation systems for the gas blasting (water and ethylene glycol) and all systems for the environmental containment.

The gaseous emissions are treated in the site using a system of washing columns and activated carbon filters; the expected atmospheric emissions are minimal.
The not condensed effluents have a dedicated blasting system.
The mother waters are sent to an internal physico-chemical treatment plant (neutralization, sedimentation and absorption with activated carbon).
The distillation residuals are discharged in tanks and sent to an external plant for incineration.
The neutralization sludge are sent to an authorized burrow.

The final product is collected in tanks or containers for sending to the client.

Monitoring plans of gaseous emissions and sullages are systematically performed.

All process operation have been carefully estimated in order to prevent the worker’s exposure;
Sampling, loading and unloading of equipment, cleaning and waste disposal are managed under exhaust ventilation to prevent any significant release of the substance.
During these processes the workers follow an internal procedure and wear appropriate PPE.
Only trained and authorised personnel handle the substance.

Each chemical substance used by worker has a Safety data sheet, prepared on the base of the internal procedure.
Labels are clearly affixed to identify the hazard of equipments and chemicals.

The Company has a Management System in agreement with ISO Certification 10617 and Seveso Directive.

Miteni has received a formal letter from the Client that certificate the use of the substance as intermediate in strictly controlled conditions.
