Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Particulates should be removed from the eye by trained medical personnel only. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.

Skin contact: Wash contaminated skin with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention. In the event of any complaints or symptoms, avoid further exposure. Wash clothing before reuse. Clean shoes thoroughly before reuse.

Inhalation: If overcome by exposure, remove victim to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiration arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed. The exposed person may need to be kept under medical surveillance for 48 hours.

Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.Wash out mouth with water. Move exposed person to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If material has been swallowed and the exposed person is conscious, give small quantities of water to drink. Stof if the exposed person feels sick as vomiting may be dangerous. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that the vomit does not enter the lungs. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishuing media: Water, all purpose (ABC) dry chemical, CO2, foam

Hazardous combustion products: decomposition products may include the following materials: carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides.

Special fire-fighting procedures: During emergency conditions, overexposure to thermal decomposition products may cause a health hazard. An apporved, self-contained breathing apparatus with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode should be worn.

Unusual fire and explosion hazard: When exposed to excessive heat or open flames, emits acrid fumes and/or smoke. Dust may from explosive mixture with air. Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. This material is very toxic to aquatic organisms. Fire water contaminated with this material must be contained and prevented from being discharged to any waterway, sewer or drain.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering.

Put on appropriate personal protective equipment. Eliminate all ignition sources and provide ventilation. Ensure good ventilation and avoid creating dust. Avoid skin contact. Do not touch or walk through spilt material.

Environmental precautions:

Prevent spill from entering sanitary sewers and waterways. Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution (sewers, waterways, soil or air).

After spillage/leakage (methods for cleaning up):

Move containers from spill area. Sweep, shovel or vacuum into labeled container for disposal or reuse. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.

Handling and storage

Precautions:

Minimize dust formation when handling - if necessary siphoning the product off locally. Under dusty conditions, static electricity may cause an explosion. Ensure effective ventilation. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic discharges.

Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Do not ingest. Avoid release to the environment.

Handling:

Avoid inhalation of dust. Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material. Keep container closed when not in use.

Storage:

Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in original container. Avoid sunlight. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from incompatible materials, food, drinks, excessive heat or open flame. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.

Stability and reactivity

Conditons to avoid: Material is stable. Contact with strong oxidising agents may cause hazardous reactions.

Materials to avoid: None known, none expected.

Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, Oxides of nitrogen. Under normal conditions of storgae and use, hazardousreactions will not occur and hazardous decomposition products should not be produced.
