Additional information

PNEC freshwater, marine water and intermittent release were derived based on experimental results of standard chronic freshwater species studies.

PNEC secondary poisoning was derived based on a repeated dose human health toxicity study.

PNEC air does not need to be derived as there is no method and no hazard to air (e.g. not ozone layer depleting).

PNEC sediment (freshwater and marine) were derived based on the equilibrium partitioning method.

PNEC soil was derived based on experimental results of standard chronic soil species studies.

Conclusion on classification

Ditolyl ether is neither readily nor inherently biodegradable (2 -3% degradation), the log Kow is 4.9 and the water solubility is 2.83 mg/L. The lowest toxicity for the environmental compartment is reported for alga with ErC10 = 0.02 mg/L.

Under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria (v4.0, Nov. 2013) the substance is classified as:
