Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The European Union System for the Evaluation of Substances (EUSES) model was used to estimate bioconcentration for p-tert-amylphenol. Using the measured log Kowof 3.6, a BCF for earthworm was estimated at 48.6 L/kg wt.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (terrestrial species):
48.6 L/kg ww

Additional information

Reliable measured bioconcentration information for terrestrial organisms is not available for p-tert-amylphenol. However, modeled data are presented below for p-tert-amylphenol.

The European Union System for the Evaluation of Substances (EUSES) model was used to estimate bioconcentration for p-tert-amylphenol. Using the measured log Kow of 3.6, a BCF for earthworm was estimated at 48.6 L/kg wt.

The Environmental Risk Assessment Report:4-tert-pentylphenol (CAS no. 80-46-6) (Environment Agency, 2008) provides an earthworm BCF of 120 L/kg wet weight based on calculation using a log Kow-based QSAR for p-tert-amylphenol. This supports the conclusion that p-tert-amylphenol does not fulfill the bioaccumulation criterion (B) as the BCF is <2000.

Reliable modeled BCF value for p-tert-amylphenol, using the measured log Kow of 3.6 was estimated to be 48.6 L/kg wt for earthworm. Other supporting data indicate that there is very low potential for bioaccumulation of p-tert-amylphenol in terrestrial organisms.
