Inhalation:

If breathed in, move person into fresh air. Call a physician immediately.

Ingestion:

Do NOT induce vomiting. Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Call a physician immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Specific hazards during fire fighting:

May form toxic gases on heating or in case of fire.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Suitable extinguishing media:

Dry sodium chloride, Limestone powder, Extinguishing powder based on class B + D (DIN EN 2).

Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons:

Water, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam

Further information:

In the event of fire, cool tanks with water spray. Be aware of a dangerous reaction with water, if the container is ruptured.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Do not smoke.

Environmental precautions:

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Avoid subsoil penetration. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up:

Never allow contact with water. Cover spilled material with limestone powder. Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect in suitable container for disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling

Safe handling advice:

Handle under inert gas. Never allow water to come into contact with the product. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Have eye wash bottle or eye rinse ready at the work place. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Electrical equipment should be protected to the appropriate standard.

Storage

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Protect from direct sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional technical information on the plant:

Keep under inert gas. Electrical equipment should be protected to the appropriate standard.

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

The risk of possible direct emissions to the emissions to the environment is technically reduced by respective equipment that is state-of-the-art or represents the maximum of technical possibilities. Moreover, environmental, heath and safety management special trained and authorized persons for dangerous substances and quality management provide for control and potential improvements.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. respirator with a filter

Hand protection:

Material: Flame retardant gloves

General advice: The exact break through time can be obtained from the protective glove producer and this has to be observed., Protective gloves have to be replaced at the first sign of deterioration.

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles, Have eye wash bottle or eye rinse ready at the work place.

Skin and body protection:

Flame retardant protective clothing.

Hygiene measures:

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid:

Avoid contact with air/oxygen., Self-ignition possible in contact with air.

Protect from frost, heat and sunlight. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition., Protect from moisture.

Materials to avoid:

Water, Acids, Carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen halides, Alcohols, Other protic substances.

Hazardous decomposition products:

• Lithium hydride

• Hex-1-ene

Hazardous decomposition products:

Decomposes in contact with water.

• Lithium hydroxide

• Hexane

Hazardous reactions:

Reacts violently with water., Risk of auto-ignition

Note:

To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.
