First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures:

General advice: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.

If inhaled: Take the victim out of the contaminated area. Move to fresh air. Seek medical advice. Make the victim blow his nose.

In case of skin contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If inflammation occurs, alert a physician.

In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice immediately.

If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Make the victim rinse his mouth with water. Seek medical advice.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: Cyanosis.

Hazards: No information available.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media: All means (e.g. water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical extinguisher).

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: Strong water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

In case of fire, the product may emit toxic and/or irritating fumes. Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Advice for firefighters:

Special protective equipment for firefighting: Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective suit.

Further information: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Avoid rejection of extinguishing water in the environment.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Particle filter half mask, filter P3. Suitable gloves. Safety glasses. Work clothes.

Environmental precautions:

Avoid any spreading of product.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

General advice: Sweep and shovel the solid product in a container adapted for its recovery or destroying (avoiding dust formation). Close and label rigorously.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Advice on safe handling (industrial scale): Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Take precautionary measures against electrostatic loading. Render equipment and apparatus inert (nitrogen, inert gases) and earth before putting into operation Avoid formation of dust Keep away from sources of ignition Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels: Storage rooms must be properly ventilated.

Further information on storage conditions: Keep in a well closed container, away from moisture and light.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment

General protective measures: Do not inhale dust Avoid contact with eyes and skin. A workplace risk assessment must be carried out in order to determine the correct engineering control measures and personal protective equipment. Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.

Respiratory protection: Particle filter half mask, filter P3.

Hand protection: Nitrile rubber gloves. Glove material : Dermatril® (KCL) Layer thickness : 0,11 mm Break through time: > 480 min

Glove material : Camatril® (KCL) Layer thickness : 0,5 mm Break through time: > 480 min

The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC directive 89/686/EEC and the resultant standart EN374. This recommandation applies only to the product stated in this safety data sheet and supplied by us as well as to the purpose specified by us. When dissolving in or mixing with other substances and under conditions deviating from those stated in EN374 please contact the supplier of CE-approved gloves.

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side protection shield.

Body Protection: protective clothing Disposable suit

Additional advice on system design: Used in closed system

Hygiene measures: Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. After worktime and during work intervals the affected skin areas must be thoroughly cleaned.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: No decomposition if used as directed.

Chemical stability: No decomposition if stored normally.

Hazardous reactions: With strong oxidizing agents. Accumulation of fine dust may entail the risk of a dust explosion in the presence of air.

For avoidable conditions: No data available.

Incompatible materials: None known.

Hazardous decomposition products: Supposed thermal decomposition/oxidation: Nitrogen oxides (NOx) Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

Disposal considerations

Product: Deliver to the Environmental service of the factory or to any specialized and approved disposal service. Harmful emissions must be removed by flue gas scrubbing

Uncleaned packaging: Deliver to the Environmental service of the factory or to any specialized and approved disposal service. Recycling possible after cleaning.
