Consolidated version of the CLP Regulation
The consolidated version of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation) incorporates all of the amendments and corrigenda to the CLP Regulation until the date marked in the first page of the regulation. The consolidated version does not include recitals. The recitals can be found in the CLP initial text below. This text has been produced for documentary purposes and the European Chemicals Agency does not assume any liability for its content. Furthermore, the text has no legal value. For legal purposes please refer to the texts published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The harmonised classification and labelling for certain hazardous substances as set out in Tables 3.1 and 3.2 of Annex VI is also made available in the C&L Inventory.
Amendments (not included in the consolidated version)
The harmonised classification and labelling of hazardous substances is updated through an "Adaptation to Technical Progress (ATP)" adopted yearly by the European Commission, following the opinion of the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC). Other changes to the legal text may also be implemented through an ATP.
Thirteenth Adaptation to Technical Progress to CLP Regulation
The 13th ATP amends the CLP by adding ECHA’s Risk Assessment Committee’s 2017 opinions on harmonised classification of several substances to Annex VI. It includes 18 updated and 16 new entries.
It was published in the EU Official Journal on 4 October 2018. It will enter into force 20 days after publication and the changes will apply from 1 May 2020.
Twelfth Adaptation to Technical Progress to CLP Regulation
The 12th ATP implements the 6th and 7th amendments of the Globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals.
It was published in the EU Official Journal on 27 March 2019. It will enter into force 20 days after its publication and the changes will apply from 17 October 2020. By way of derogation from the second paragraph, substances and mixtures may, before 17 October 2020, be classified, labelled and packaged in accordance with this Regulation.
