PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- PBT status:
- PBT assessment does not apply
- Justification:
A test has been carried out according to OECD 310 Ready - CO2 in Sealed Vessels (Headspace Test). The test substance was incubated for 28 days at 20°C ± 1°C in sealed vessels with preconditioned activated sludge and the inorganic carbon concentration during this period was measured. % BOD of ThOD after 28 days of incubation was 80%. It is therefore considered that the substance is readily biodegradable according to the criteria of the OECD 310 guideline. Therefore, based on results of biodegradation, Terpineol multiconstituent is not expected to meet the Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) criteria.
Bioconcentration Factor (BCF) was calculated using two softwares: 1) BCFWIN from EPI Suite v4.0 and 2) BCFBAF from EPI Suite v4.0. The geometric mean of the three predicted BCF results in a BCF of 23.4. The estimation results clearly indicate BCF < 2000 L/kg. Consistently the Log Kow is below 4.5 (2.6) indicating that the affinity for lipid will not exceed the B criterion. Therefore the substance Terpineol multiconstituent is not expected to meet the Bioccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB) criteria.
The substance is not classified for aquatic toxicity, on the basis of available data. Since all aquatic EC50 are higher than 0.1 mg/L, it provides evidence that the substance is presumably not T. None of the measured or calculated data for Terpineol multiconstituent exceed the criteria for toxicity stipulated in the ECHA’s Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - Part C: PBT Assessment (2008). Therefore, Terpineol multiconstituent is considered as not T.
- Likely routes of exposure:
Mainly oral and dermal
