Additional information

No experimental data evaluating the biodegradation potential of 2,3-dihydroxypropyl laurate (CAS No. 142-18-7) are available. Therefore, data from a structurally related analogue substance are used as read-across in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. In a biodegradation screening study performed with the read-across substance Glycerides, C12-18 di- and tri-, CAS No. 91744-28-4, 79.5% biodegradation after 28 days was observed. Based on this result, 2,3-dihydroxypropyl laurate is expected to be readily biodegradable as well and therefore, rapidly biodegraded in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2,, and, further testing on biodegradation of the substance in water, sediment and soil are not required.
