Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Exposure by inhalation: Immediatley remove subject to fresh air. If symptoms are experienced seek medical attention immediately.

Exposure by eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. If irritation persists seek medical attention Immediately.

Exposure by skin contact: Wash affected area with soap and plenty of water. If irritation persists seek medical attention Immediately.

Exposure by ingestion: Rinse mouth. Drink plenty of water. If irritation or discomfort occurs seek medical attention Immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide gas.

Product arising from burning: The substance is not considered to be combustible.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus must be worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Personnel involved in clean-up must wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to the relevant national or international standards. Minimise potential exposure. Standard cleaning techniques such as brush or cleaning with water and detergent should be sufficient.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations in order to minimise exposure.

When handling the substance appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn, such as dermically resistant gloves, appropraite face masks and goggles (with side splash protection).

Engineering controls (such as mechanical ventilation and dust suction systems) are necessary to minimise exposure to the substance.

Storage: The substance should be stored in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from flames and sources of ignition.

Dry storage conditions are recommended primarily to guarantee the functionality of the substance rather than for safety reasons.

The substance should be stored in sealed containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance should be stored, transported, handled and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local and national regulations in order to minimise exposure.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn. Dust masks must be to standard EN149, gloves to standard EN374 and protective clothing to EN368. This should be considered as a minimum.

The product is mainly handled in closed systems. There is however direct exposure possible at some parts of the production process during the use of the substance. Any exposure is minimised by appropriate ventilation and dust suction systems in place to limit the distribution of the powder in the working environment. There is continuous monitoring of the dust level in the production areas and whenever necessary production workers wear masks to limit potential intake of the substance.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not present a significant explosion hazard.

Disposal considerations

Possibility of recovery/recycling: Waste from production, use or accidental spills should be sent for recycling.

Methods for neutralising effects: Not specified, but by appropriate methods and according to local and national regulations.
