Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire, normal extinguishing media may be used
(e.g. water, carbon dioxide, foam, dry powder).

Product arising from burning: The substance itself does not present a fire hazard. If
involved in a fire, nitric oxides, carbon oxides and
chlorine compounds may be produced.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should then be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Remove in dry state and dump in a controlled deposit or
incinerate.

Wash liquid spillage with large amounts of water.

For large quantities absorb with adequate adsorbent and dump
in a controlled deposit of incinerate.

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions should be observed. Avoid skin contact
and dust formation when handling the product. Cuts and
abrasions should be covered with impermeable material.

Storage: No particular recommendations.

Normally, stored in closed containers in adequate rooms.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Not given, 6th amendment notification.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of over 95% by
irreversible binding to leather or paper. Recovery for
recycling of the remaining highly water soluble substance is
not practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal in a controlled deposit is possible. (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration in a suitable plant is possible.

(A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended. Much less than 5% of the total quantity
used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as a
highly diluted solution. Industry is well aware of this
waste and should treat it by installing pre-purification
plants. Part of it will be discharged into industrial
effluents. Total aerobic degradation is unlikely, although
partial degradation may occur. The literature suggests that
it may be destroyed by anaerobic degradation (see
bibliography).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from articles dyed with the substance is not
possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will not enter the public domain. Articles
dyed with the substance may be disposed of as domestic
waste.
