First-aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures
Eyes contact : Rinse continuously with water at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.
Skin contact : Wash skin immediately with water and soap for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing.
Ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse the mouth with water. Get medical aid immediately. Never give anything to drink to an unconscious person.
Inhalation : Keep the victim away from the polluted atmosphere. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid immediately.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
No data available

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
No data available

Fire-fighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media
- suitable : CO2, dry chemical powder, appropriate foam, water fog/spray
- unsuitable : jet of water

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance
In case of fire, could form HBr and hazardous vapours.

5.3 Advice for firefighters
Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. Cool containers with water fog/spray.

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Evacuate the spill area of unnecessary personnel. As a precautionary measure, eliminate all ignition sources. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours. Stop leak if possible.

6.2 Environmental precautions
Should not be released into the environment.

6.3 Method and material for containment and cleaning up
Ventilate area. Contain spillage. Absorb spilled product with inert material (e.g. dry sand, vermiculite) and collect carefully in a suitable container for disposal.

Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety procedures. Use adequate ventilation. Avoid inhalation of vapours. Do not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Keep in a dry, cool, dark well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat, moisture, sources of ignition and incompatible substances. Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed and check periodically for leaks. Avoid stocking for too long time. The product is corrosive for most of the metals under moisture conditions.

7.3 Specific end use(s)

Exposure controls / personal protection

8.1 Control parameters
No data available

8.2 Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering controls
Use adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapours. Avoid contact with skin or eyes

Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection : Necessary in case of vapours/fumes : Filter A (EN 14387) for gas and vapours of organic components with a boiling point > 65°C.
Hand protection : Compatible chemical-resistant gloves.
Eyes protection : Chemical safety goggles or face shield with safety glasses.
Skin and body protection : Protective clothing and boots.

Environmental exposure controls
Should not be released into the environment

Stability and reactivity

10.1 Reactivity
No data available

10.2. Chemical stability
The substance is light-sensitive.

10.3. Possibility of hazardous reactions
No data available

10.4. Conditions to avoid
Avoid contact with heat, flames and sparks. The substance is corrosive for most of the metals under moisture conditions.

10.5. Incompatible materials
Bases, alcohols, amines, oxidizing agents

10.6. Hazardous decomposition products
Under heat and moisture conditions, the substance can be decomposed and forms hydrogen bromide, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

13.1 Waste treatment methods
There is no uniform regulation for the disposal of chemical products and their waste in the European Union. User must ensure that this complies with all local / national laws.
