Description of key information

The substance has no explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The explosive properties of the substance were evaluated based on its structural features in accordance with EU and UN screening methods. The test substance does not contain chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties. Additionally, the oxygen balance of the test substance was calculated; it was –34%, which is higher than –200%. The value is obtained due to the presence of sulphonate groups in the molecular structure of the test substance. These types of groups are not chemically instable or highly energetic. Based on this the test substance is considered to pose no risk for explodability.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As MMDS has no explosive properties, the substance does not need to be classified for explosivity in accordance with the CLP Regulation 1272/2008.
