Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A determination of the partition coefficient LogPow could not be performed, because uronium hydrogen sulphate is an aduct of urea and sulfuric. Therefore the partition coefficient LogPow of each single constituent (as degradation product) has to be used for further scientific considerations.
The determination of the partition coefficient LogPow would be prepared at a pH, which depends on the normal environmental pH-range. The ideal pH is 7 but also with a pH-range of 4 to 9 the determination could be performed. For reaching this range the sulphuric acid has to be neutralised, which is one part of the two-compound-system. After neutralisation the test item is changed and urea is established as single compound. Therefore only a consideration of the LogPow of each single compound is appropriate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-1.7

Additional information

Uronium hydrogen sulphate readily degrades to urea and sulfuric acid and/or sulfate ions in the environment and these degradation products are considered in the assessment:

-         The octanol-water partition coefficient of urea was measured to be -1.73 ;

-         No data is available with sulfate as it is an inorganic compound.
