2-chloropropionic acid is a colourless to yellow liquid with a pungent odour.

Three sources of information are available to support a weight of evidence approach on physical state, colour and odour.
All sources state the physcial state to be a liquid. Therefore, it is considered that the substance is a liquid.
The colour is described to range from light yellow (Sigma Aldrich) through colourless to yellow (Inchem) to colourless (Nufarm UK Ltd). On balance it is considered that the substance is colourless to light yellow.
One source (Inchem) describes the odour to be pungent. This source is peer reviewed. It is therefore regarded as reliable and thus it is considered that the odour of 2-chloropropionic acid is pungent.
