The burning time was measured on a 100 mm powder train, and was found
to be 8 minutes 44 seconds.
From this, a burning rate of 0.19 mm/s can be calculated.
The burning rate of the test substance was determined via the
propagation of combustion over a 100 mm long powder train. The average
observed burning rate is 8m 44s/100mm.
According to the criteria described in Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 on
classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures
(CLP), classification as a flammable solid is required when the burning
rate is more than 2.2 mm/s. Based on the observed burning rate of 0.19
mm/s for L-tyrosine, classification of the substance as a flammable
solid is not required.
Burning rate: 0.19 mm/s.
