Description of key information

For assessment of the biodegradability of FAT 40034, a study evaluating inherent biodegradability / biological elimination is available. Further, additional studies investigating BOD5(Biolological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) of the substance are also available. The Biological elimination i.e. percent degradation of FAT 40034 is found to be 12 %. BOD5and COD value of 0 and 798 mg O2/g test mat. was determined for FAT 40034. Based on the BOD5/COD quotient which is not >0.5, the substance is not indicative of rapid degradation. Taking the data from the degradation test and BOD5/COD quotient into account, FAT 40034 is considered to be not biodegradable.
