First-aid measures

Description of necessary first-aid measures
General information:
Pay attention to self-protection. Move out of dangerous area. Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Keep patient warm and at rest. Do not leave the victim unattended.
Inhalation:
after inhalation of vapours / spray mist Bring affected person outside and ensure that he/she is comfortable. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues. For breathing difficulties, oxygen may be necessary. Employ artificial respiration if breathing ceases. Get medical attention immediately.
Skin Contact:
Wash off with plenty of water and soap immediately. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.
Eye contact:
Remove contact lenses if this can be easily done. Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. In case of persistent discomfort: Consult an ophthalmologist.
Ingestion:
If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Immediately give large quantities of water to drink. Seek medical advice.
Personal Protection for First-aid Responders:
Pay attention to self-protection.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms:
No data available.
Hazards:
low-level toxicity
Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment:
Treat symptomatically. No specific antidote known

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
Water spray, foam, CO2, dry powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:
High volume water jet.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
In case of fire cool endangered containers with water.
Advice for firefighters

Special fire-fighting procedures:
Standard procedure for chemical fires. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system. Fire water retention in Germany: cf. Art. 20 of the Ordinance on Facilities for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV)
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:
In the case of respirable dust and/or fumes, use self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear suitable protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
For personal protection see section 8. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid breathing dust/mist/vapors. Ensure adequate ventilation.
For non-emergency personnel:
No data available.
For emergency responders:
No data available.
Environmental Precautions:
Do not allow entrance in sewage water, drainage systems, stretches of water, soil. Issue an immediate alarm report to the company environmental protection department if the product unintentionally leaves the production area.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Take up mechanically or with an absorbent material. Fill into marked, sealable containers. To be disposed of in compliance with existing regulations. Suitable absorbents: Universal binder diatomaceous earth oil absorbent
Reference to other sections:
For personal protection see section 8. For disposal considerations see section 13.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Technical measures (e.g. Local and general ventilation):
If possible, use material transfer/filling, metering and blending plants that are closed.Further InformationContact BUA (Bundesverband der Messstellen für Umwelt- und Arbeitsschutz e.V.) .ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industry Hygienists)
Safe handling advice:
For personal protection see section 8. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. If possible, use material transfer/filling, metering and blending plants that are closed.
Contact avoidance measures:
see Precautions for safe handling.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Safe storage conditions:
When handling VESTINOL 9 in closed systems, additional safety requirements are necessary if handling temperature exceeds 150°C. for example: Explosion protection equipment required.Normal measures for preventive fire protection.Keep container tightly closed. Keep in a dry place. Suitable materials are: aluminium (min. 99.5 %) 3.0255 aluminium magnesium alloys. (Quality Class F 18) 3.3535 Stainless steel. 1.4301 Austenitic steel 1.4571 Unalloyed steelInadequate materials are: PVCRecommended sealing materials for example: Graphite flat gaskets with metal insert made of 1.4401. PTFE flat gaskets with 25% by weight glass fibres, especially for manhole cover seals.Observe prohibition against storing together! for example: Comply with storage regulations and regulations prohibiting storage of hazardous substances in non-stationary containers in the same room (TRGS 510).
Safe packaging materials:
No data available.
Storage Class:
10: Combustible liquids
Specific end use(s):
We are unaware of any specific end uses which go beyond the data reported in Section 1.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls
Appropriate Engineering Controls:
If possible, use material transfer/filling, metering and blending plants that are closed. Further Information Contact BUA (Bundesverband der Messstellen für Umwelt- und Arbeitsschutz e.V.) . ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industry Hygienists)
Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment
Eye/face protection:
Safety glasses
Hand Protection:
Material: suitable protective gloves, e.g. nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) gloves
Break-through time: >= 480 min
Glove thickness: 0,4 mm
Guideline: Source: KCL GmbH
Additional Information: The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EC Regulation 2016/425 and the standard EN 374 derived from it.
Additional Information: Selection of protective gloves to meet the requirements of specific workplaces., The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves., The information is based on our own tests, references from the literature and information from glove manufacturers, or derived by analogy with similar materials., Be aware that in daily use the durability of a chemical resistant protective glove can be notably shorter than the break through time measured according to EN 374, due to the numerous outside influences (e.g. temperature)., Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
Skin and Body Protection:
Select materials and equipment for physical protection depending on the concentration and volume of hazardous substances and the workplace involved.
Respiratory Protection:
In case of dusts/vapours/aerosols being formed or if the limit values like TLV are exceeded: use respiratory equipment with suitable filter (filter type A) or wear a self contained respiratory apparatus
Hygiene measures:
Do not breathe in vapours or aerosols. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.
Environmental Controls:
Emissions from venting and processing equipment should be checked in order to ensure that the requirements of the Environmental Protection Law are satisfied. In some cases, exhaust air scrubbers, filters or technical changes to the processing plant will be required in order to decrease emissions to acceptable values. See sections 6 and 7. The environmental regulations on the control and monitoring of environmental exposures are to be observed.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:
No data available.

Chemical Stability:
No data available.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:
None known.

Conditions to avoid:
Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. When handling VESTINOL 9 in closed systems, additional safety requirements are necessary if handling temperature exceeds 150°C. for example: Explosion protection equipment required.

Incompatible Materials:
Strong oxidizing agents. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Hazardous Decomposition Products:
Not known.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
General information:
No waste key number as per the European Waste Types List can be assigned to this product, since such classification is based on the (as yet undetermined) use to which the product is put by the consumer. The waste key number must be determined as per the European Waste Types List (decision on EU Waste Types List 2000/532/EC) in cooperation with the disposal firm / producing firm / official authority.
Disposal methods:
With respect to local regulations, e.g. dispose of to waste incineration plant
Contaminated Packaging:
