Description of key information

DINP did not inhibit soil respiration in a soil sample at a concentration up to 9616 mg/kg d.w. during a 33 day exposure. Therefore, DINP is not expected to adversely impact microbial activity in soil.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Results from a 33 day study with a population of microorganisms from natural soil show that DINP does not inhibit respiration at the highest tested concentration (9616 mg/kg d.w.). This result is supported by short-term toxicity studies on sewage treatment organisms and microorganisms, which also did not show adverse effects at their highest tested concentrations.
