Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

An OECD SIDS document was produced for linalool in 2002. The SIDS document contains the results of more studies on the aquatic toxicity, which are summarised in the table below:

SIDS/IUCLID file (ref. 71)

In the SIDS document, linalool is described as a substance of moderate toxicity in standard acute tests with fish, daphnia and algae with all LC50/EC50 values ranging between 20 and 90 mg/l. (Remark: the value 90 is based on the algae test (key study) with biomass as the endpoint). All four fish LC50s are very close, ranging from 27.8 -36.8 mg/l. The results in the studies on invertebrates range from 20 to 59 mg/l. The tests with algae show effect only above the levels of the other two groups.

The SIDS document concludes that based on the acute toxicity data there is no indication for a specific, high toxicity to any of the systematic groups tested. Thus an assessment factor of 100 was chosen for the derivation of the PNEC.
