Description of key information

48-hour EC50 in daphnids – 330 mg/L. (in non-neutralized conditions, pH 2-3).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
330 mg/L

Additional information

Acute toxicity to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna was reported as 48 hour EC50 of 330 mg/l. No effects were observed at 180 mg/l or lower concentrations. Test material concentrations were not measured. Dilution water was well water with total hardness of 255 mg/liter as CaCO3. Test temperature was 20ºC with a 16-hour daylight photoperiod. As with the fish tests, a low pH (2.4) was associated with the highest concentration.
