Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Toxicological testing is not applicable as the substance reacts spontaneously with water to produce aluminium hydroxide and methane or methanol and also reacts spontaneously with air; the products of complete combustion being aluminium oxide, carbon dioxide and water. Therefore it is not possible to calculate systemic DNELs for the substance. The toxicological effects of aluminium oxide and aluminium hydroxide need to be considered when evaluating the effects of long-term exposure to trimethylaluminium. Aluminium oxide and aluminium hydroxide are of low toxicity, are poorly absorbed by the oral, inhalation and dermal routes and are not classified for human health effects.

The test substance is classified as a Skin Corr. 1B. No dose response data are available therefore it is not possible to derive local DNEL values. Medium hazard is therefore assigned for local effects on the skin, eyes and respiratory tract in accordance with ECHA CSA Guidance part E Table E 3 -1.
