Principles of method if other than guideline:
The melting point was measured using a Mettler FP61 melting point apparatus, which ' employs a photocell detector to determine the melting point. Samples were contained in glass capillary tubes, 1.5-2 mm ID., Fisher Scentific; photocell detection, range: 0- 300 °C with Mettler FP61.
A preliminary test was done at a heating rate of 2 °C/minute to establish ·the .approximate melting point The final test was done at a heating rate of 0.2°C/minute starting at about 1 degree below the preliminary test value. Three measurements were made onthe sample material, along with4-(dimethyl ·amino) benzaldehyde as a reference.
Melting point of reference compound agreedwithin 0.5°C, of theoretical (73 °C measured, 74°C literature).
