Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguishing measures to suit surroundings

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Strong water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

In case of combustion, evolution of dangerous gases possible

Advice for firefighters:

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Use self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information: Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Use personal protective clothing.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter drains or waterways.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

General advice: Pick up with absorbent material (eg sand, kieselgur, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations

When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal".

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Advice on safe handling (industrial scale): Avoid formation of aerosols. This substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions as specified in REACH regulation article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management system should be available at each manufacturing site. During the whole lifecycle all necessary measures should be undertaken to minimize emissions and any resulting exposure. Enclosed transfer strongly recommended. Work in a defined area with restricted access recommended.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Take precautionary measures against electrostatic loading. Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep only in the original container

Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and dry

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls:

Personal protective equipment

(IMPORTANT: to be adapted following the workplace risk assessment.)

General protective measures: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. A workplace risk assessment must be carried out in order to determine the correct engineering control measures and personal protective equipment. Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier. The safety data sheet complies with the specific conditions on which the registration is based in accordance with articles 17 or 18 of the REACH regulation ((EC) No 1907/2006).

Industrial workplace

Respiratory protection: Use respiratory protection in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure. Multi-range filter ABEK/P3

Hand protection: In splash contact: Viton® gloves. Glove material : Vitoject® (KCL) Layer thickness : 0,7 mm Permeation time : > 10 min

The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC directive 89/686/EEC and the resultant standard EN374. This recommendation applies only to the product stated in this safety data sheet and supplied by us as well as to the purpose specified by us.
