Description of key information
In an OECD 209 study, the nominal 30min EC50 and NOEC were above and equal to 100 mg/L, respectively. Although the exposure time of 30 min is too short for a poorly soluble substance, the results are supported by the fact that the substance was not toxic to the inoculum at a nominal concentration of 21 mg/L in a ready biodegradability test, carried out in accordance with OECD301B.

The influence of KY-RB on the respiration rate of activated sludge was investigated according to OECD 209 and in compliance with GLP. Under the conditions of the test, KY-RB was not toxic to wastewater bacteria. The EC50 and NOEC were above and equal to 100 mg/L, respectively. All validity criteria were met. However, according to IR/CSR guidance R.7b, version 1.2 (November 2012), paragraph R.7.8.17.3, for poorly soluble substances a contact time of minimal 3h is to be used to ensure sufficient exposure. Nevertheless, together with the results from the ready biodegradability study in which the substance was not toxic to the inoculum at a nominal concentration of 21 mg/L, the results can still be used to draw conclusions about toxicity to STP micro-organisms. Therefore reliability 2 was assigned.
