Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flammability, solids (EU test methods A.10 and A.12, GLP): non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the test item was determined according to EU test methods A.10,and A.12 under GLP.

The test item is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of EU test method A.10.

The test item does not emit flammable gases in contact with water according to the criteria of EU test method A.12.

Based on practical experience, pyrophoric properties can be excluded.

In the study according to EU test method A.10, the burning rate could not be determined since flame propagation was not observed (no ignition possible).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Since the test item cannot be ignited or rapidly extinguishes, it is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria in EU test method A.10. In addition, it does not have to be classified as readily combustible solid in Class 4 Division 4.1 according to the UN Transport Regulations or according to GHS and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation) Annex 1, 2.7.

Furthermore, based on study results obtained for the test item according to EU test method A.12 and practical experience, it does not emit flammable gases on contact with water and it does not possess pyrophoric properties.

In addition, the test item in its used form does not contain organic peroxide groups and organic peroxides are not considered as a potential hazard.

Finally, the test item does not contain any of the following chemical groups according to the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (2) indicationg self-reacitve properties in organic materials:

Structural feature                     Examples

Mutually reactive groups:              Aminonitriles, haloanilines, organic salts of oxidizing acids

S=O:                                          Sulphonyl halides, sulphonyl cyanides, sulphonyl hydrazides

P-O:                                          Phosphites

Strained rings:                            Epoxides, aziridines

Unsaturation:                              Olefins, cyanates

Therefore, the test item does not possess self-reactive properties.
