First-aid measures

General advice:       Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid all contact.  Do not breathe dust. Remove contaminated clothing, including footwear, and wash before reuse.

IF INHALED:       If breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as collar, tie, belt or waistband. Apply artificial respiration only if patient is not breathing but do not use mouth to mouth resuscitation. If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a Poison centre or doctor/physician.

IF ON SKIN:       Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected skin with plenty of water or soap and water. If irritation develops and persists, get medical attention.

IF IN EYES:       Hold eyelids apart and rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice/attention.

IF SWALLOWED:       Drink water. Do not induce vomiting, wash out mouth with water. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical advice.

Symptoms:       May cause cancer. Suspected of damaging fertility. Causes damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure.

Medical treatment:       Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:       In case of fire use extinguishing media appropriate to surrounding conditions. Water spray, foam, dry powder or CO2.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:       Do not use direct water jet. Direct water may spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance:       May give off noxious and toxic fumes in a fire: Phosphorus oxides (e.g. phosphorus pentoxide), Metal oxide fume.

Advice for fire-fighters:       Keep unnecessary personnel upwind. Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do not breathe fumes. Chemical protection suit. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Evacuate if necessary. Avoid release to the environment. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:       No actions should be taken involving personal risk. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid all contact. Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not breathe dust. Stop leak if safe to do so. Remove contaminated clothing, including footwear, and wash before reuse.

Environmental precautions:       Avoid release to environment. Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or water courses. Inform the responsible authorities when very large quantities get into water, drainage, sewer, or the ground.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:       Damp down to avoid dust generation. Use vacuum cleaner to collect spilt material. Recover the product where possible. Ventilate the area and wash spill site after material pick-up is complete.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:       Obtain special instructions before use. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Good hygiene practices and housekeeping measures. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid all contact. Ensure adequate ventilation.  Do not breathe dust. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Wash contaminated clothing.

Conditions for safe storage:       Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Keep away from fire and heat.

Incompatible materials:       Keep away from: Strong oxidising agents, strong acids and Ammonium nitrate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Hygiene measures:       Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier. Avoid all contact. Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not breathe dust. Take care for general good hygiene and housekeeping. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Respiratory protection:       Ensure there is adequate ventilation. Wear suitable respiratory protective equipment. A suitable mask with filter type P may be appropriate.

Hand protection:       Wear impervious gloves (EN374) in combination with 'basic' employee training. Breakthrough time of the glove material: refer to the information provided by the gloves’ producer. Recommended materials: polychloroprene, nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, fluoro-caoutchouc, and polyvinyl chloride

Eye protection:       Wear eye protection with side protection (EN166).

Skin and body protection:       Wear suitable chemical protection coveralls and boots to prevent exposure to the skin.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability:       Stable under normal conditions. Stability will decrease with: heat.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:       Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid:       Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep away from fire and heat.

Incompatible materials:       Keep away from: Strong oxidising agents, strong acids and Ammonium nitrate.

Hazardous decomposition products:       May give off noxious and toxic fumes in a fire: Phosphorus oxide, Metal oxide fume.
