Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:
In Annex X of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, it is laid down that long-term sediment toxicity testing shall be omitted of there is no need to further investigate the effects of the substance on sediment organisms. Due to 1,2-epoxybutane being readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that the substance will be completely biologically degraded within the STP process. Furthermore, for substances not passing the STP-process but being readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that they will be also biologically degraded in the surface water within a short time.

Description of key information

No data on sediment toxicity available.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance is readily biodegradable. For substances being considered as "readily biodegradable“, it can be assumed that they will be completely biologically degraded within the STP process. Furthermore, for substances not passing the STP-process but being readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that they will be also biologically degraded in the surface water within a short time.
