Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

INHALATION: Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Get medical attention if breathing in difficult or any discomfort continues.

INGESTION: Rinse mouth thoroughly. Drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomitting. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

SKIN CONTACT: Remove affected person from source of contamination. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the affected area immediately and thoroughly with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If irritation develops, get medical attention.

EYE CONTACT:Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 5 minutes. If irritation develops, get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Dry chemicals, Foam and carbon dioxide only.

SPECIFIC HAZARDS: Flammable liquid. Avoid heat, sparks and open flames.

HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Oxides of: Carbon, acrid fumes.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PROTECTION: Avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective clothing

SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS: Stop leak if possible without risk. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Flush with plenty of water to clean spillage area. Do not contaminate water sources or sewer

Handling and storage

USAGE PRECAUTIONS: Wear safety glasses or goggles, rubber gloves and apron when handling. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact.

STORAGE PRECAUTIONS: Do not store in close proximity to heat, sparks, open flames, strong acid, strong bases. Protect from humidity and water.

To minimize product degradation, avoid prolonged exposure of the material to air. Keep container closed when not in use.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CLOSED SYSTEMS: Wherever possible, use closed systems to transfer chemicals.

ISOLATION: If appropriate, isolate mixing rooms and other areas where chemicals are openly handled and maintain these areas under negative airpressure relative to the rest of the plant.

VENTILATION: Provide adequate general and local exhaust ventilation.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: NIOSH/MSHA approved organic vapor respirator required when the vapor concentration is high.

HAND PROTECTION: Wear standard industrial type rubber gloves and a rubber apron isrecommended.

EYE PROTECTION: Wear approved safety goggles.

BODY PROTECTION: Wear protective suits.

EXPLOSURE MONITORING: Use a certified air sampling expert to identify volatile chemicals that are present in significant amounts in the air, and to measure on a regular basis the air concentrations of one or more of these chemicals as indicators of exposure and to ensure the continuing effectiveness of engineering controls.

HYGIENE MEASURES: Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet. Provide eyewash station and safety shower.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY: No dangerous reactions known.

CHEMICAL STABILITY: Stable under normal temperature conditions.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Avoid excessive heat for prolonged periods of time. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, acids or alkalis.

Disposal considerations

SPILL PROCEDURES: Small spills should be absorbed by dirt, sand or other suitable absorbent. Large spills may be pumped into closed containers for recovery or disposal.

DISPOSAL METHODS: This material, if discarded, is considered a hazardous waste. Observe all federal, state and local environmental regulations.
