Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The half-life of (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate was estimated to be 32 h, with CO2 being the predominat degradation product

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in soil:
32 h

Additional information

In the laboratory in artificial sunlight, (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate was predominantly degraded to carbon dioxide but also two products similar to those observed in soil metabolism studies. The substances were identified by TLC, GC/MS and other methods to be 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoyl-lactic acid and 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid. The half-life of the (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate was estimated to be 32 h as determined from the 14C activity suggesting that the trifluoromethyl-group carrying ring is degraded slightly faster than the other aromatic ring.
