EC number: 263-503-6
CAS number: 62314-25-4
study was performed to assess the effect of the test item on the growth
of the green alga Pseudokirchneriella
The method followed was designed to be compatible withthe
OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (2006) No 201, "Freshwater Alga
Growth Inhibition Test" referenced as Method C.3 of Commission Regulation(EC)
preliminary range-finding tests and initial experiments,Pseudokirchneriella
exposed to an aqueous solution of the test item at concentrations of
32 and 100 mg/L (three replicate flasks per concentration) for 72 hours,
and shaking at a temperature of 24 ± 1 °C.Samples
of the algal populations were removed daily and cell concentrations
control and treatment group, using a Coulter®Multisizer
of the test preparations at 0 and 72 hours showed measured test
concentrations to benear
nominal with the exception of the 1.0 mg/L test preparations which
showed a measuredtest
concentration of 1.8 mg/L at both 0 and 72 hours. Given that this test
the calculated No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) this was
considered to havehad
no adverse effect on the outcome of the test and as such the results
have been calculatedbased
on nominal test concentrations only.
The effect of the test item on the growth of Pseudokirchneriella
subcapitata has been investigated over a 72-Hour period and gave aGrowth
Rate EC50 of >100mg/L, a NOEC of 3.2 mg/L and a LOEC of 10 mg/L
It was not possible to calculate an ErC50 value as no concentration
tested resulted in 50% inhibition of growth rate.
