Description of key information

The data requirement was filled by read-across using the data obtained for an analogue with a similar molecular structure, but acrylate functional groups instead of methacrylate functional groups.

The acrylated analogue of the test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of an OECD testing guideline 301F test.
A mean total of 28.1% degradation was achieved by Day 28 and 26.8% by Day 56.

The acrylated analogue was not considered to be inhibitory to the microbial inoculum at the test concentration of 100 mg/L since the biodegradation observed in the toxicity control bioreactor was not less than 25% occurred within 14 days.

In addition, in a non-GLP study performed according to OECD 301D testing Guideline with inert carriers and a different inoculum, the analogue substance reached a mean biodegradation level of 24.5% by Day 28 and 26.5% by Day 84.

The biodegradation pattern of the target substance is not expected to be significantly different than the one observed in these two studies for the source substance. Therefore, the registration substance is considered not readily biodegradable.
