Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Boiling point
Atm. press.:
ca. 100 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 250 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The test item decomposes starting at about 250 °C before boiling occurs.

Any other information on results incl. tables

As the results obtained during the preliminary tests showed that no boiling can be deduced within the temperature range between 25 °C and 400 °C, no further DSC runs were performed.

The study was performed under atmospheric pressure which was at that time ca. 100kPa. The exact value of the pressure was not recorded.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Boiling Point / Boiling Range
FAT 40842/A TE decomposes starting at about 250 °C before boiling occurs.
Executive summary:

The determinations of the boiling point/boiling range of the test item were performed according to the EEC Directive 92/69 A.2 “Boiling temperature”, December 1992 and to the OECD Guideline No. 103: “Boiling Point”, adopted July 27, 1995.

Preliminary Test

Several endothermic heat effects were observed, the first peak starting at 217.4 °C. After the experiment, the sample had lost about 19.36% of its mass and a black melt remained.

As the results obtained during the preliminary tests showed that no boiling can be deduced within the temperature range between 25 °C and 400 °C, no further DSC runs were performed.

FAT 40842/A TE did not boil under the conditions of the test (temperature range investigated between 25 °C and 400 °C). The test item decomposes starting at about 250 °C before boiling occurs.
