Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water: screening tests: Key studies: zinc acetate is readily biodegradable (read-across from experimental data on the category member sodium acetate and zinc citrate).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Key studies:

Based on the experimental results obtained with the analogue sodium acetate, which is considered to be readily biodegradable (> 99% in 28 days), and applying the read-across approach, the substance zinc acetate is also considered to be readily biodegradable.

Based on the experimental results obtained with the analogue zinc citrate (reported under the endpoint 05.02.01_04 Zinc citrate), which is considered to be readily biodegradable (Zinc citrate complexes were degraded after a lag of 20 hours

and applying the read-across approach, the substance zinc acetate is also considered to be readily biodegradable under test conditions.
