Table 1: dye adsorbed on gill and
intestine in fish
Amount of dye adsorbed (µg/g)
The toxicity of Amaranth was
studied by various interaction between the dye and the components in
Carp of same age, length 10cm and
weight approx 300g were used. They were acclimated for 10 days in tap
water before experiment.
Fish were exposed to Amaranth
solution (100mg/l)for 30, 60 and 180 min and then gills and intestine
were taken out by dissection and the adsorbed dye was eluted with 70%
ethanol containing 1% ammonia water, determined spectrophotometrically
and expressed as amount of adsorbed dye on each organ.
The Test chemical was not adsorbed on
the gills and intestines of fishes.
