Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

-Test item appears as grey solid (powder) with a melting point of 1380°C and a density of 5.85 g/cm³.

- The mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD) of the test item is calculated as ca. 111 µm (D50).

- Measuring of water solubility was not possible as item decomposes in water at three different pH values (4.0, 7.7 and 8.9).

- During the DSC run up to 519°C no exothermic event could be observed. Therefore, the test item is no subject to the classification procedures for self-reactive substances.

- Flammability studies showed that test item is not flammable in contact with water. This controverts the practical experience of the data submitter, the test item releases in contact with water flammable gases. Therefore the 'aluminum, compound with nickel (1:1)' is classified as flammable in contact with water. This is also supported by testing of the water solubility according OED 105 (see chapter 4.8), the test item reacted with water by producing a gas.
