Additional information

Data for aquatic and terrestrial bioaccumulation are not available. Based on the criteria of log Kow < 3, a study on bioaccumulation is not required. The measured n-octanol/water-partitioning coefficient of 1.61 and the calculated BCF of 3.5 indicate no bioaccumulation potential for styrene oxide. Due to the low soil sorption coefficient no bioaccumulation via ingestion of soil is expected. Exposure of aquatic or terrestrial organisms is not expected as styrene oxide is solely used under strictly controlled industrial conditions. The strictly controlled conditions used are always documented in detail at all industrial sites where styrene oxide is used.
