Results and discussion

The method has been validated. The accuracy in the measurement according to DIN 32 645 (1994), taking into account sample processing, is 1 µg/kg. The correctness of the procedure is based on the AHTN recovery rate, which is 98%.

Lettuce

The soil analysis for the soil/sewage mixture at the different locations has been measured over a period of 12 weeks (Table 3).

Table 4 shows the AHTN content in the lettuce as function of time.

The AHTN content in the soil remained constant and no degradation in the soil was observed. The average AHTN concentration was 245 µg/kg dw. No accumulation of AHTN was observed. Lettuce in the greenhouse showed a similar concentration around 0.2mg/kg dw after 8 weeks. The outdoor values are higher and this could possibly be due to rain splash from the AHTN spiked soil.

Analysis of the soil for the test of AHTN in root and leaves of carrots in the greenhoue can be found in the table below.
